Blog Update August 9

Woke up at 8am, had challah French toast for breakfast, put lunch together and left for w-3. W-3 is mostly water aka: hard to probe, easy to do everything else. After that jazz we went to the Hutson Bay shore, made a fire, looked at fossils, and threw rocks at drying shoes. We came back to nester one, got ready for dinner, ate dinner, jammed to music, and went to bed.

At 8:00am the group ate challah French toast made by all the adults; on our way to the site we saw an amazing caribou skeleton. It was a cold day, and we were very wet at the beach ridge. Then the group split; half went to nester and the other half went to collect more data at fox dens. The second group saw the first polar bears during this adventure (besides one spotting in the helicopter)! It was 2 cubs and their mama. We sat and watched the bears for half an hour and then gave up on finding fox dens and headed for nester. We had barbecue chicken made by Leo and enjoyed our evening together.
